UPDATE: Decapitated head matches body found north of Viking near Ranfurly
Police this morning confirmed that the remains found in Edmonton, a human head, belonged to the homicide victim discovered near Ranfurly, Alberta on Oct. 20, 2012. The name of the deceased, cause and manner of death are not being released at this time.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the autopsy on the human remains that were discovered in a northeast Edmonton neighbourhood on Wednesday morning.
The autopsy was conducted on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, and the Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.
The RCMP will continue with the homicide investigation and the EPS will assist where necessary. Further details regarding the ongoing investigation will be provided by the RCMP.
