Cooperation rebuilds dairy after tornado destruction
When a tornado struck and destroyed a newly completed dairy production, cooperation from neighbouring colonies brought the ultra-modern operation back from disaster within weeks.
An early August storm with high winds and heavy rain struck the city of Fort Saskatchewan and area, causing damage to many farms and residents, and in particular to the Scotford Hutterite colony just northeast of the city.
The colony suffered damaged from the storm with various roofs being lifted off buildings.
The newly completed dairy barn was the hardest hit and with cattle still in it, immediate attention was required.
