HUNDREDS MEET STANLEY IN VIKING: Darryl comes back home with the Stanley Cup!
More than 100 fans had to be turned away at the door of Viking’s Community Hall on Saturday when the allotted time for the Stanley Cup’s visit drew to a close well after 6 p.m.
For more than two straight hours, Los Angeles Kings Head Coach, Viking’s own Darryl Sutter, stood with the cup and accepted congratulations from the never-ending line of well wishers.
Coach Sutter used one of the three days he was in possession of the cup to share it with area residents.
Although the Stanley Cup has been won by brothers Duane and Brent Sutter before him, this is the first time the cup has spent any length of time on the Sutter farm where the six NHLers were raised.
