Word on the Street discontinued

The popular weekly column “Word on the Street” has been discontinued by the Viking RCMP while the local detachment works its way through what Tofield/Viking detachment commander Sgt. Jim Warren is calling, “a re-organizing phase.”

During this time of change, Sgt. Warren says he will be available for regular updates on area happenings and looks forward to the time when the column can once again be available on a regular basis.

The local detachment has been under-staffed since last fall and will soon be losing two more officers who have served this community for years.

Constables Sheldon Dyke and Rodney Legrow are up for transfers and will be leaving Viking in the near future. As a result, incident reports are not necessarily filed at the Viking office, making preparation of the weekly news report difficult.
