House Calls Project Proves Rewarding
The Energysmart Viking House Calls Project, which ran in Viking recently, was both highly successful and very rewarding according to Sustainability Project coordinator, Brian Rozmahel.
“It was a great project because it engaged a large number of citizens and businesses in town,” he says.
In efforts to raise awareness about sustainability seven local youth in Grades 11 and 12 were hired to visit homes of participants and conduct surveys of applicances used, share energy saving tips with the homeowners, install shower timers, and switch their light bulbs.
The students visited one third of the homes in Viking, which organizers say was “phenomenal and more than they expected.”
Rozmahel says two great realizations came out of this project.
