Snowy Owls seen in Holden, Bruce
It is impossible to say if these pictures are of the same unique Snowy Owl or if they are two totally different birds.
The top photo was taken by Bruce photographer Richard Goerg last week. He said this soaring Snowy Owl has been “hanging around” just west of Bruce for about two weeks.
The photo on the left was taken by the Weekly Review staff member Jackie Jeffrey just south of Holden. She too said she has noticed the bird in the area for a couple weeks.
It is not hard to understand how the bird acquired its name. The adult male Snowy Owl is virtually pure white. The females and younger birds have some dark scalloping.
