Conservation village project discussed
Plans are well underway for a unique project that organizers hope will put Viking on the provincial, national, and international map, and draw more people to the community.
The Town of Viking and Beaver County have agreed to work with Alberta Rural Sustainable Alternatives Net-work (ARSAN) and their conservation village project, which they believe will have positive spin off effects for the town and county.
Brian Rozmahel, Rural Sustainability Development Officer with the Town of Viking and Networking Co-ordinator for ARSAN, says the conservation village is to be a “demonstration of a new sustainable way for people to live together as a community.”
According to him, ARSAN has acquired a quarter section of land a mile and half north of town on Highway 36 from Bill and Bernadette Rozmahel, where the proposed conservation village will be located.
