Human remains allegedly discovered north of Viking near Ranfurly

Rge. Rd.121, one mile north of Highway 16, continued to be closed to traffic Monday, Oct.22, two days after it is rumoured a body was discovered in the area.

Ross Warren Director of Protective Sevices/ Fire Chief County of Minburn out of Vegreville confirmed that the Innisfree Fire Department responded to a call Saturday evening and assisted RCMP in setting up road blocks.

He said he could not offer any further information, suggesting RCMP should be contacted for a statement.

Attempts to contact Sgt. Mike McGinley of the Vermilion RCMP detachment met with no success.

According to unconfirmed sources, on Saturday evening, Oct. 20, a body was found lying in a ditch and a truck was left running along side the road just north east of Ranfurly.

The location being referred to is RR 121, Twsp. 514, north of Highway 16.

According to area residents the abandoned truck was not one that was recognized as a local vehicle.
