It may be surprising to learn that the Viking ship in Troll Park was made locally.

Jim Veenstra of Viking, worked on building the ship for when it first appeared in the park.

Woodworking is a hobby which Veenstra says he has enjoyed for over 20 years since he retired from farming. He says that he works with all different kinds of wood, depending on the project.

Not only did Veenstra build the Viking ship, he also worked on the All-iance Church.

He says he did much of the woodworking for the cabinetry in the kitchen,  as well as building the pews, the pulpit, various shelves and television stands.
