Viking’s allotment under the  2012 funding for capital and operating Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI)  has not changed much from last year.

    Viking will receive $260,776 in capital funding, up from $259,655 last year and $107,228 operating, down from $114,871. in 2011.

    The MSI funds are allocated 48 per cent by population, 48 per cent by education tax requisitions and four per cent by kilometers of local roads.

    The funds will become available  through submitted project profiles after the provincial budget has been passed in the coming weeks.

    Residents and businesses are being asked to decorate Viking pink in August when the Wild Pink Yonder trail riders arrive in Viking on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
