Viking holds Remembrance Day service Friday, Nov. 11

viking-county-and-veterans-memorial-wreathA large crowd attended the Remembrance Day service which took place at the Viking Community Hall on Friday, Nov. 11.

The service started with the Depositing of the Colours led by Legion President Elehda Sevcik followed by the singing of O Canada.

Pastor Alvin Sorenson, of the Golden Valley Lutheran Church, lead the
Call to Worship and the Opening Prayer.

Following the singing of a hymn and a number of Scripture readings by Pres Winter and Pastor Darren Anderson of the Viking Alliance Church, Assistant Pastor Janna Ferguson of the Kinsella Community Church read a meditation on the importance love and the different forms it can take.

The Honour Roll was then read by Dennis Hoffman and the wreaths placed. The Last Post was sounded and followed by two minutes of silence which was broke by the playing of Reveille.

A Litany was read and then Lanaya Carrington and Kirstin Haeberle read their poems, which were entered in the Poster, Poem, Essay Contest.
