Donations to food bank aid with ‘record-shattering’ need for hampers

Viking and Holden Food Bank spokesperson Darren Anderson accepted two donations on behalf of the food bank on September 14.

These donations, pictured on Page 16, will help keep the food bank running in a month where it is being used more than ever.

Anderson said the food bank has received a number of donations in the past week, which is a good thing because without them, he said, “the shelves would have been bare.”

The month of September is only halfway through and Anderson said it is well on the way to being the busiest month the food bank has ever had.

“In the first two weeks of September we sent 13 hampers out for 48 people,” Anderson said.
