New Town of Viking Rec Director will focus on Carena

The Town of Viking has hired a new Recreation Director. Doug Lefsrud, a lifelong resident of Viking, started in the position on September 1.

Lefsrud moved to Viking as a kid in the 70s, but said he has always called Viking home. He said he and his wife both graduated high school in Viking and have lived in the community ever since.

For 31 years Lefsrud said he worked in the oil and gas industry, starting his career with North Western Utilities, which eventually became ConocoPhillips. It was while working with ConocoPhillips that he said he was given the opportunity to get into the role of schedule planner, which sparked his interest in a role like that of the Rec Director.
