    The first week of 2015 was a very cold week in the Viking area.

    Temperatures read minus 28 but with the accompanying winds, it felt like a bone-chilling minus 37 degrees. But towards the end of the first month of the year, the area enjoyed a warm spell which saw temperatures rise high enough to cause water to run in the streets.

    The early days of 2015 brought news of a CN train derailment at Jarrow. Jarrow is a populated locality on Highway 14 between Kinsella and Irma.
