FORMER VIKING RESIDENT IS LRA CHAMPION

    Barrel racer Stacey Ruzicka who now lives in Bentley, Alberta  but who grew up in  Viking, was recently named the 2015 Lakeland Rodeo Association (LRA) finals champion.

    Stacey who has worked as a dental assistant for 18 years, is the granddaughter of Gina and Henry Ruzicka of Viking. Stacey says she loves her job and recalls obtaining work experience as a teenager at the Dr. Nordstrom’s dental office in Viking.

    In an article written by Cassie Hausauer of the online Lipstick and Cowboy Boots website, Stacey talked about riding and winning.

    Stacey said by winning races at  a variety of Alberta locations early in the season she achieved an early start on her standing in the finals. She said she won a few rodeos early in the season, but then a bad month of tipped barrels cost her winning a lot of dollars but she regrouped and continued winning again to capture the position of season leader in the WRA  and second in the Foothills Cowboy Association (FCA)… for more see the Oct. 27/15 Weekly Review
