VIKING HOCKEY SEASON GETTING READY TO START

When the local hockey season gets underway in October, there will be five local, one combined team and one regional team taking to the ice.

Following a meeting last Wednesday night, the Minor Hockey Association announced there will be one Initiation team, one Novice team, one boys’  PeeWee, one boys’ Bantam and one boys’ Midget team. There will not be an Atom team (ages 9 to 10) this season.

There will be two girls’ teams. The girls’ Bantam team will be a regional team pulling players from a variety of centres and the girls’ Midget team will include players from Irma and Viking with a goalie from Wainwright.

Speaking for the Minor Hockey Association, Doug Schaffner said organizers are pleased with the interest shown and are looking forward to a successful season.
