Walking Trail Committee receives vote of support from Council

The Walking Trail Committee received a strong vote of support and the promise of assistance from town staff and administration to help get a start on the preliminary stages of the proposed walking trail.

Viking town council voted to support the project at the regular meeting of council Monday, Aug. 17.

Although there were questions about the exact route of the trail and an overall cost, Council did agree that a sidewalk or walking path leading from the downtown area to the Carena is necessary and is the financial responsibility of the town.

It was suggested that such a pathway could be incorporated in the walking trail.

Town council agreed to allow town staff to assist in the preliminary stages of the trail development as the trail is going to be situated on town land.

Council also agreed that once the trail is in use, town crews would include the walking trail in snow removal.
