Viking Town Council has agreed Monday night, Jan. 23, at its regular meeting to host participants of the Wild Pink Yonder trail ride this August and vie for a chance  to win the title Pinkest Little Town in the West.

Wild Pink Yonder is a charitable society that runs a three-week long trail ride as a fundraiser for breast cancer research, treatment and education.

Viking will be one of the stops on The Pink Trail this summer. The participants will ride into Viking August 28 and set up camp for the night. Organizers say they are hoping to ride into a town which has adopted a pink theme while raising funds for the cause.

The Wild Pink Yonder Charitable Society challenges every town along The Pink Trail to raise more money (per capita) than the others. At the same time, the group challenges each town to see which one can be, quite literally, the pinkest town on the route. Organizers of the trail ride say it’s not about the size of the town but about the size of the heart in the town.
