FORMER VIKING STUDENT HAS UNIQUE DIAMOND JOB AT HUGE MINE IN NWT

   Canada’s largest diamond mine, Diavik Diamond Mine, which is also the sixth largest diamond mine in the world, has a connection to the town of Viking.

    Former Viking School student Cory Maxwell has been working at the location on an exciting development project.

    Diavik Diamond Mine is located in the North West Territories, 300 kilometres north of Yellowknife. According to Maxwell, it is operated by Rio Tinto and “produces about 7.5 million carats of diamonds per year. The diamonds are mined from two kimberlite pipes with a third being developed right now that will begin producing diamonds in 2018.
