VIKING MAYOR PROMISES DECISION ON TRAIN CESSATION

    Viking town council plans to make a definitive decision regarding the cessation of the train whistle at its February meeting.

    According to Mayor David Zayonce ending the train whistle question is something town council must do, ending what he said has been an issue debated by council “for 15 years.”

    Zayonce volunteered to research all aspects regarding the issue and offer a full report to council at the February meeting.

    The issue of the train whistle came up for discussion at the Monday, Jan. 19 meeting when the Train Whistle Cessation Committee sent what it termed “new information” to the council.
