RCMP REPORT AMONG TOWN COUNCIL BRIEF

     In a report to council Mon., Nov. 17, RCMP Corporal Rick Halter said he is pleased with a decrease in criminal activity in the Viking area.

    He said for the month of August, criminal code crime was up 13 per cent from last year at the same time. Corporal Halter referred to August as, “a busy summer month.”

    He said the good news was that by September criminal code offenses had decreased by 68 per cent, and in October we were down another 41 per cent. He said there has been a decrease in criminal code crime. 

    Corporal Halter said his detachment has a “good handle” on local offenders and the offender maintenance program he has established at the Viking detachment is working well with offenders understanding they are being monitored to make sure the conditions are enforced.
