Popular Camrose business burned to the ground, damaging others

    Fire ripped through Sofas Beds and GE Appliances at 51St., on Friday night, razing the business and all its contents, as well as devastating a nearby business, Malorie’s Cakes and Catering, and cracking the windows of the Professional Centre across the road, causing an overall estimated $4 million in damages, according to fire officials.

    The location is a subsidiary of Ken’s Furniture which has a main street location in Camrose and has served local area residents for years.

    Camrose Fire Chief and Deputy Director of Emergency Management Peter Krich  told the Weekly Review Tuesday morning that 28 Camrose firefighters responded to a 4 a.m. call Friday, Oct. 1.                    
    He said by the time the alarm was turned in, flames were coming from the building’s windows.
