Word on the Streets: Viking RCMP report

    On June 16, police received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle in a back alley in Viking.  Investigation revealed the vehicle had been left at a local business the night prior and unknown subjects had stolen it and then left it at the location.  The vehicle was undamaged and was returned to the registered owner.

    Later that morning, police received a complaint of mischief at a rural location.  The complainant advised someone had thrown a beer bottle at his backhoe that was parked on the side of the road, causing damage to the back window.  The investigation into this matter is continuing.

    That afternoon, police were advised of an erratic driver northbound on Highway 36.  The information was also passed on to Vegreville RCMP but police were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

    Police were also informed of a theft from a local business that had occurred overnight.  Police are continuing to follow up on this matter.

    That night, police received a request to check on the welfare of an individual who was not responding to phone calls or text messages.  Police attended the residence of the individual and found no indication of any problem.
