Irma has yet another home-grown athlete to be proud of, as 14 year-old Logan Ganie has been drafted to the Western Hockey League (WHL) by the Kamloops Blazers.

Ganie, a centre, was chosen in the ninth round, 178th overall in the Bantam draft on Thursday, May 1, to join the Blazers franchise. He was one of 10 draft picks for the Blazers, with four chosen from B.C., four from Alberta, one from Saskatchewan, and one from Minnesota.

He said he had been closely following the draft all day on the internet and that he found out he was drafted while at school.

“I couldn’t believe it and was very excited,” he said.
