Equipping EOC with generator

Viking town council agreed at its regular council meeting Monday, April 28,  to make installing the proper electrical hookup for an emergency generator at the town office a priority.

    Council asked the administration to contact an electrician at once and arrange to have a transfer switch installed, allowing a portable generator to be plugged into a breaker box.

    The request for immediate action on this matter arose after a visit to council by Beaver Emergency Services Commission (BESC) board chairperson Arnold Hanson who reminded the council that the town office would become the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

    During his brief visit to council, Hanson pointed out that while the town does own a portable generator, having the correct electrical hookup at the town office is something which, to date, has been overlooked…. For more see the May 6/14 issue of the Weekly Review
