On the night of Monday, April 21, Viking School’s Travel Club returned to Canadian soil after an 11 day excursion to Italy.

The group, consisting of 14 high school students and teachers Wendy Wilkie and Richard Samson, departed from Edmonton International Airport on April 11. From there they flew to Toronto, then Frankfurt, and finally, after 18 hours en route, landed in Milan where they boarded their tour bus.

First on the ‘Bell Italia’ tour was Venice. Members of the Travel Club enjoyed a guided tour, learning about the city’s history and culture, as well as a glass blowing demonstration.

They visited the Doge’s Palace and got to take a ride around the city’s canals on gondolas, which many students called a fantastic experience. For more see the April 29/14 issue of the Viking Weekly Review
