Word on the Street: Viking RCMP report

On April 8th, police were called to the scene of a sudden death.  The death was deemed non suspicious in nature and therefore, further police involvement was not required.

    That afternoon, police received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle at a rural location.

Police attended and found the vehicle had been stripped. They were able to locate the VIN and determined the vehicle had previously been reported stolen in Edmonton. The investigation into this matter is continuing.

    On April 10th, an employee with a local gas station advised they had an unpaid bill dating back to February from a customer who had left his driver’s license behind as collateral until he could return with adequate funds.

Investigation revealed the driver’s license had been reported stolen in Sherwood Park in February.  With the aid of Sherwood Park RCMP and video surveillance that was obtained from the gas station, a suspect has been identified and charges are pending.
