Word on the Street: Viking RCMP report

    On November 18th, police received a complaint of an erratic driver westbound on Highway 14.
 
    The caller advised he was following a welding truck that was all over the road and driving at speeds that were unsafe for the icy road conditions. 
The information was also passed on to Tofield RCMP however the vehicle in question was not located.

    That afternoon a request for assistance was received from Children Services in Thunder Bay.  They were looking to locate a youth who was a ward of the court in their jurisdiction and check on his well-being.  It was believed he was visiting relatives in the area. 

Inquiries were made and then police were advised the youth had been located by Children Services and their assistance was no longer required.

    On November 19th, a citizen contacted police to report an attempted phone scam known as the “Grandparent Scam”.

The caller advised she received a call asking for money from a grandchild in need.
