A letter will be sent by the Town of Viking to the Minister of Municipal Affairs Doug Griffiths to voice concern over the continuing increase in education tax dollars.

Town Council heard at its regular meeting Tuesday, May 21, that education taxes will increase once again this year and that cost will have to be carried by taxpayers.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Rod Krips told council that in 2011 the amount of education tax collected from Viking residents was $206,844, increasing to $224,303 in 2012 and this year rising to $263,424 – an increase of roughly $39,000 since last year.
