Crews, neighbours battle wild fire west of Irma

Firefighters from Irma, Kinsella, Wainwright,  and Viking battled a grass fueled fire Monday afternoon just west of Irma.

At press time there was no information regarding  the cause of the fire or the number of acres burned or if any homes had suffered damage.

As the temperature rose to 30 plus, smoke could be seen for miles billowing into the sky.

An army of fire trucks, tractors with ploughs and farm trucks with water tanks were brought in to help douse the flames.

A call went out to all farmers with discs, cultivators and water trucks to head to the site to help put out what was being termed a prairie fire.
