On Nov .22, a resident called police to inform them of two threatening messages that had been left on her answering machine while she was away from home. The complainant did not wish to provide a statement and only wanted the police to be aware of the situation.

    That afternoon, police received a complaint of a theft from a rural location northwest of Viking.  The caller advised he was missing four Simmental cross calves from his pasture.  The calves had been branded and this matter is still under investigation.

   Later that evening, police responded to a domestic disturbance that was in progress at a residence in Viking.              When police arrived on scene, they located an intoxicated male inside of the residence with an injury to his hand from smashing in a window.          The male, who is currently on probation from another incident,  was arrested and has been charged with failing to comply with conditions of his probation order.  A check on police computer systems also showed that Edmonton Police Service was in possession of two outstanding warrants for the male and that he was currently unlawfully at large.             The male was first transported to the Viking Health Center where he was treated for his injuries and then taken to the Vegreville detachment for a JIR hearing. He was remanded in custody and then transported to the Edmonton Remand Center where he will be held until his first court appearance in Vegreville Provincial Court.

    On Nov. 23, police received information regarding a potential home-made weapon that had been located in a student’s locker at the local school.  The item was seized by school staff and the matter is being dealt with internally as the student did not attempt to use it or make any threats with it.  Children’s Services was also notified and is continuing to work with the family.

    Later that day, a subject attended the detachment to complain about ongoing issues with a person who she feels is slandering her name.  The investigation into this matter is continuing.

    On Nov. 24, police were contacted by a subject who was requesting assistance in retrieving personal property from a residence.  In speaking with the parties in-volved, it was determined the matter was civil in nature and police were unable to assist with the property.

    That same day, police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver that had just pulled into the parking lot of a local restaurant.  A patrol was made and the vehicle in question was located.  The driver was spoken to by police and showed no signs of impairment.  He was unable to produce his driver’s license and was issued a violation ticket for Sec. 51(d) TSA.
