Extendicare residents back home after flood evacuation

Emergency crews answered the early morning call Sunday to help evacuate residents of Extendicare after a water pipe broke, causing flooding.

Viking Extendicare residents were back home Sunday evening following an emergency evacuation which began early Sunday morning, Nov. 25.

    Speaking from Viking Extendicare, Christine Tymofichuk, office co-ordinator at the facility, said Monday that the residents were moved back into the facility starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday night and that by 9:30 p.m. everyone was settled.

    A call went out at about 8 a.m. Sunday when a water pipe burst in the attic causing some flooding at the facility.
