History disappears: Weekly Review building razed to the ground

When the former Viking Review building was taken down last week, part of Viking’s history went with it.

Originally known as the Thompson Building, the structure was home to a variety of businesses over the years.

Eric’s Backhoe & Contracting Services Ltd. of Viking dismantled the structure and left behind a groomed, flat piece of main street property.

The property is owned by Caribou Publishing which owns and operates four weekly newspapers as well as the East Central Times.

The president of Caribou Publishing Kerry Anderson said the company is undecided on the future of the location.

He said consideration is being given to building on the site but no definite plans are in place at this time.
